Lucky Pup Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established for the purpose of finding families to both foster dogs and adopt dogs in need. We believe that all dogs deserve a safe and happy forever home, regardless of breed or where they are from.

 

Since our start in 2008, we've found permanent homes for more than 1100 dogs. The quantity is not important to us, though the lives that have been saved are! The quality of the life each dog deserves is the most important piece of our mission.

 

We are based in southern Maine, but we do not have a physical shelter. We work with local dogs and those from our overcrowded partner shelters and rescues in the southern United States. Our dogs are brought to safety and cared for as we find families that will foster a dog until their forever family is found. We are committed to finding the best “doggie” fit for you and your lifestyle so that from the day you adopt a dog, you will have many happy years together.

 

We are committed to the dogs for the duration of their lives and are here to support you and your new family member.

 

Foster families are the backbone of our rescue and we all work hard to make a dog as “adoptable” as he or she can be in the time we have them. We ensure that the dog has been fully treated for all known health issues, is up-to-date on recommended vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. We begin to work on house manners, basic training and socialization. Many of our foster homes have children, other dogs and/or cats. Almost all of us have alone time, so we can learn how that will work for each dog. We provide heartworm and flea/tick preventative, high quality dog food, and we consult with veterinarians and trainers when needed. Some dogs go to classes, learn special skills, or overcome difficult pasts to become healthy and happy family members.
